If you are travelling overseas and departing the country through Auckland International Airport you can purchase your items excluding 15% GST on product prices. The goods are sent to Auckland International Airport for you to collect once you have cleared immigration.

Q. How do I place a tax free order?
You can easily place a tax free order directly on our website by selecting the “tax free” option during checkout **Note** tax free ordering is only available for flights departing from Auckland International Airport and there is a minimum order amount of $500 exl GST.
Q. Can I do a tax free order for my flight entering (coming into) New Zealand?
No, tax free ordering is only available for flights departing (leaving from) Auckland International Airport and is not available during your stay in New Zealand or when coming into New Zealand.
Q. How much do I save?
All goods sold in New Zealand are subject to 15% GST, if you are purchasing the items to use overseas on your travels – you don’t have to pay the GST. All products on our website are displayed with GST included in the price. When purchasing tax free you pay the excluding GST price (Website Product Price divided by 1.15).
Q. Are there any fees or minimum order amounts?
Currently only second hand / used items are subject to an additional 2.5% fee (calculated during checkout), and there is a minimum order amount of $500 excluding GST.
Q. How do I calculate the savings?
To calculate the savings for tax free purchases, divide the regular displayed price by 1.15 this extracts the 15% GST content that was applied to the original figure, be sure to not confuse this with a 15% discount off the advertised price, if you are uncertain please contact us and we can assist with providing an accurate tax-free price. There is a box next to the product prices that can easily allow you to check the price excluding GST.
Q. Do you offer tax free on all of your products?
Yes we can offer tax free purchasing on all of our products.
Q. Can’t I just purchase a camera across the counter and claim the GST back at the airport when I leave?
Unfortunately, not, while other countries allow you to do this New Zealand isn’t one of them.
Q. What warranties and backup support do I get with buying tax free from Auckland Camera Centre?
All camera gear sold by Auckland Camera Centre is sourced through the official factory appointed New Zealand distributors, you will get the full manufacturer’s warranty as offered in NZ with some brands having up to 5 years and our own 5 year extendable warranty if purchased. You also have cover under the Consumer Guarantees Act. If you purchase overseas the warranty is generally valid for the country of purchase and you won’t have any protection or rights under the CGA if the product fails outside of warranty. Most of our products have New Zealand based warranties which means the goods will need to be returned back to NZ for warranty cover repair however some do have limited international based warranties. If you are unsure or would like to know more about specific warranty details please get in touch with us.
Q. How long before I travel do I need to make the purchase?
Due to stock constraints with some particular lines of products we recommend placing the order as early as possible to allow us time to secure the stock and process your order however we can process urgent tax free orders up to 24 hours prior to your flight and in some cases even less. If you have an urgent or last minute tax free order you would like to process please get in touch with us directly and we will see what we can do to make it happen.
Q. Is it possible to have my order sent without the bulky boxes to the airport so it’s easier to manage on my trip?
We are happy to unpack the items from the box and secure them into either bubble wrap, a purchased bag or your own provided bag. Boxes can be sent to you directly prior to your flight but will be subject to local courier costs.
Q. What happens if I get to the airport and my camera is not there?
We ensure all orders are hand delivered by either same day urgent courier or dropped off directly by our staff to ensure this doesn’t happen, but in the event it did we will get the camera back from the airport and offer you a 100% refund.
Q. Will I need to pay GST on the goods purchased tax-free when re-entering New Zealand?
As long as the items purchased tax-free are to be used or intended to be used when you have left New Zealand they will not be subject to any GST, taxes or other fees on your return. In over 20 years and having processed thousands of tax free orders we have never had an issue around this.
Q. What if I cancel my flight or I need to rebook my flight to a later stage?
If you cancel your flight we can refund your order however will be subject to a 10% restocking fee orders that have already been sent to the Airport will additionally be subject to a $35 courier fee to return it back to our store.
If you need to rebook your flights to an earlier or later date that’s no problem just let us know the new flight details.
